A treasured conversation with a professor

I met with an old professor the other day. I set up a meeting with her to help me brainstorm about my future and especially to gain wisdom from her life experiences.

Going into the meeting I knew a few things about her that made me want to talk to her.
-She had been a leader over fellow students
-She had been a counselor
-She loved to study how people interact with each other
-She was a mom

I also took note of the feedback my professor gave me on the papers I wrote for her class. Whenever I wrote about my view of marriage or sex she would write comments such as: "hold on to your values" or "I think your beliefs have value" etc...

So I met with my professor. In the conversation I was able to ask her if she was a Chirstian and she said she was. Then the conversation took a beautiful turn. She told me about how the Lord had directed her steps to where she is and how He has been a strength to her through some very challenging times. She told me how she prays for her students everyday before she walks into class and how she prays the Lord uses her.

Then, she said the thing the made me want to cry. She told me how the Lord had always prepared her heart for the next change in her life. She told me how He would start to put a restlessness in her heart when He was about to change her role. I could relate because I have felt the same. I have never worried about a job. Everytime I was in need of a job, the Lord put it in front of me or prompted me in where to go.

What an encouragement that conversation was! It ended with my professor asking me for a hug. How is that for a meeting at a Liberal College?

It is a meeting a I will ponder and teasure in my heart.

It is the little moments...I treasure.
