Car update - a blessing.

Having my car towed is supposed to be a very frustrating experience - at least that is what I thought. However, I have found it to be a time where I have seen God's grace and love in my life.

The mechanic who diagnosed my car, told me that the main computer had failed and I needed to get it replaced. He said the part was over $1,000. For a college student tight on money this is not the kind of news you want to hear. But he continued by saying he had contacted the dealer and found out my car was under warranty and that the part could be replace for free! This news was wonderful because it meant I didn't have to pay for any new parts for my car at all!

The catch to all of this is now I had to find a way to transport my car from the mechanic's to the dealership so I could have the new part put in. I knew this would mean a high towing cost. BUT just the day before, my friend had mentioned how she had a "tow a friend for free" with AAA. I called her up and she said she would love to help me and so she drove a half-hour and sat with me while we waited for the tow truck to arrive. What a good friend! Last night I got a call saying my car was ready to be picked up.

Wow! Every step of the way, a friend or a stranger has been there to help me. I definitely felt like I have seen community and human kindness expressed to me. Sometimes being a single adult is a little scary but I forget how much support I have from friends, family and even strangers. This experience was actually not that bad and a great reminder for me.

Now I get to go pick up my car "Buddy" today. :-)
